Description
Spruce or cedar? Many guitarists face this choice and end up trading clarity for warmth. The Casarez SLR-90-S was built to make that trade smaller. It keeps the precise, singing treble of a solid Alpine spruce top and adds the power and deep, firm bass that spruce guitars often lack.
What makes the difference
The bracing. Beneath the top lies an advanced bracing pattern, more elaborate than the simple fan found on most classical guitars. It frees the lower part of the soundboard to move with greater amplitude, so the low strings speak with weight and the whole instrument projects further.
The top. Alpine spruce from the European mountains grows slowly in a cold climate, which gives tight, even grain. A solid top of this wood is an investment: with age and playing its tone deepens and warms, and its colour slowly turns from pale straw to a mellow amber.
The body. The back and sides are bubinga, a traditional, high-quality African tonewood. Its figure can recall walnut or rosewood, depending on the version and the cut; tonally it gives the dense, reflective resonance that supports long sustain.
