The GDS-60 is the practical half of the pair. Where the GDS-80 SL is built for a microphone, this one is built to be plugged in — and the difference shows up in the details rather than in the marketing.
The preamp is a Fishman Isys III, which is the reason to choose this guitar over a purely acoustic instrument with a pickup fitted later. It is a well-understood, widely serviced system: bass and treble controls that do something useful rather than dramatic, a volume control that behaves, and an onboard chromatic tuner that is readable on a dark stage. Nothing about it is exotic, which is exactly what you want from equipment you rely on in front of an audience.
The body uses walnut or rosewood depending on the run, both of which give warm overtones and long sustain. Under amplification that translates into a full signal that does not need much shaping at the desk. The solid mahogany neck is stable and comfortable in the hand, and the rosewood fingerboard is smooth enough for quick chord changes and comfortable for lead work.
One point worth knowing before you order: the back and sides are specified as walnut or rosewood, so the exact wood varies between production runs. Ask us which one is in stock before you buy if the distinction matters to you — walnut is slightly tighter and more focused, rosewood a little more resonant.
The finish is natural gloss. This is a guitar for the working player: rehearsals, small venues, songwriting sessions, home recording. It is forgiving enough for someone still learning and dependable enough for someone who is not.
