Description
Most classical guitars in this bracket use a mahogany neck. The Marzano GL-50 does not — the neck here is solid rosewood, the same wood more commonly reserved for the fingerboard and bridge. It is a heavier, denser choice than mahogany, and it firms up the sound just slightly at the point where the string energy first leaves the body.
The top is solid cedar, giving an immediate, warm response without a break-in period, and the back and sides are solid mahogany, keeping the overall voice centred and midrange-forward. Fingerboard and bridge are also solid rosewood, and the tuners are chrome rather than gold — a detail that keeps the guitar’s price sensible without touching the tonewoods that actually matter to sound.
A good option for an intermediate player who wants a slightly firmer, more centred voice than the typical cedar-and-mahogany pairing gives.
